The landscape fabric

Landscape fabric is a specific tarpaulin that is installed before any earthmoving or planting work. Most often designed in polyethylene with a density of 50g/m², it slows the phenomenon of erosion, protects the soil and prevents the growth of weeds.

Used to develop a flowerbed and other plantations, it also helps plant growth by avoiding thermal shocks and keeping the soil moist during periods of drought thanks to its weaving and permeability.

Mulch covers protect the environment by reducing the use of herbicides and other pesticides.

Finally, compared to other methods of mulching, this type of tarpaulin has the advantage of requiring no maintenance. It is very simple to install, and much more economical. Only disadvantage, the mulching canvas is not aesthetic but in this case, that of a wooden earthwork, it does not matter since the landscape fabric is destined to be placed under the terrace.

Now, here are the steps to install your mulch canvas and your wooden deck.

Set the stage

First of all, it is necessary to start by weeding the area concerned, on which you will mount your wooden terrace.

Then remove large pieces and irregularities from the ground. At the end of this first step, the area is flat and clean.

Lay the landscape fabric

To prevent weeds from growing under the terrace and pointing their nose between the wooden boards, it is now advisable to lay a landscape fabric on the ground. For this, unroll the mulch cloth, 50g/m² in general, and then arrange the metal fixing pegs in the form of U every square meter. These posts make it possible to firmly fix the mulch cloth in the ground.

To perfect the installation of your special weed cover, bury the edges of the mulch.

Repeat the operation as many times as necessary to cover the entire area that will be knocked down.

Do not hesitate to cut the extra parts if necessary with a cutter.

Mount wooden planks

All you have to do is lay your perpendicular boards on the foundations and rafters previously put in place, making sure to leave half or one centimeter between each of them. Screw the boards to the rafters at each end of each board.

Your terrace is ready! A beautiful place to enjoy sunny days or have meals with family or friends!
