BACHES-DIRECT tells you everything about how to clean and maintain a pergola cover simply with everyday products.
Quick and easy, don’t worry about cleaning your tarp.
Your canvas pergola goes through all the weather. It is therefore essential to maintain your pergola canvas so that it can last over time and look like the first day.
Tips to clean your pergola cover
- First, start dismantling your tarp. A pergola cover should be washed flat on the floor. Choose a floor that has been previously cleaned. Avoid placing your canvas on the ground; at the risk of you ending up with mud stains. If you don’t have room to put it completely flat; no problem. Roll it out gradually!
- Once your tarp is installed flat on the ground, pass a small sweep to roughly dust the canvas. This will make cleaning easier.
- With warm, slightly soapy water (without bleach) and a non-abrasive brush, gently brush forward. Needless to insist too much, you risk damaging it.
- Once this operation is complete, you can rinse it with clear water; using your garden hose, or a bucket of water. Do not use karcher, high water pressure is bad for pergola covers.
- The tarp must dry flat in the sun before being hung up again to your pergola.
- If you want to store your pergola canvas, it must be completely dry or mold will appear for its next use!
Maintain and clean your pergola or arbor cover
Cleaning a pergola cover does not require regular maintenance. Indeed, most of our canvases have a quality of 10 years. PVC pergola cover is very resistant to any weather. Wind, snow, rain; it will not deform.
It is therefore recommended to clean your tarpaulin when the sandow begins to be worn. We spot an aging sandow when it becomes thinner, and that the small filaments of elastics inside are seen.
So if you change your sandow, take the opportunity to give a little cleaning to your pergola cover!
Warning: intensive cleaning is not good for your canvas. The latter is made with materials that are made to withstand time, and for all weather. It is therefore important to respect the precautions said before so as not to damage your pergola cover prematurely.
